Breeding

His sire is Contender, who is without doubt, one of the most influential living stallions today. He was the champion of his 100 days performance test at Adelheidsdorf achieving a very impressive showjumping mark of 146.61. A very successful international showjumper in his own right and as a sire has obtained international acclaim with graded sons such as, Concerto I and Contra A, both competing on the International circuit. He boasts a very high jumping index of 150. Contender also has the famous stallion Ramiro as his maternal grandsire and is therefore related to the outstanding performers Ratina Z, Royal Z I and Royal Z II. Contender is one of the many graded sons of Calypso 11 whose progeny include the International showjumping stallions Montemorelos La Silla and Canas J. Calypos II is by the great sire of champions Cor de la Bryére who is a proven sire of sires through his son Cavalier Royal, the top producer of sport horses in Ireland. Cor de la Bryére’s progeny have won over £1.5 million in prize money in Germany alone. His International showjumping progeny include San Patrigiano Corrode, Cordalmé Z, VDL Corland, Cera 001, Bollvorm’s Chablis and Global Concorde. He is also the sire of the international dressage horses Cabaret, Caprice, Castello and the world famous Corlandus. Grannuschka, is the full sister to the international showjumper, Gio-Granno, ridden by Franke Sloothak. He has had great successes on the World Cup circuit and Grand Prixs and is 8th in the WBFSH rankings 2001. She is also the dam of the super young graded showjumper, Couleur Rubin, by Cordalmé Z. Her sire, one of the most successful sires of Showjumpers, Grannus, was ranked 1st in the WBFSH list in 1995/6 and 4th in the whole period 1991/2000. His progeny have won over £1.5 million and include the International showjumpers Grannusch and Top Gun, as well as 79 graded sons giving him an outstanding breeding index of 164. El Rumina, is by Ramino, who is by the outstanding sire Ramiro, ranked 2nd in the WBFSH list of showjumping sires in the period 1991/2000. Ramiro is the sire of over a 100 graded sons. His daughter Ratina Z, won the team gold and individual silver at the Barcelona Olympics and team gold at the Atlanta Olympics, has a breeding index of 160 and 1st in the WBFSH rankings in the period 1990/1999.

Performance

Conterno Grande was the vice-champion of the 1997 Oldenburg Stallion Days. He did his stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 1999, and was awarded particularly high scores in jumping. He transformed his first starts in showjumper classes at the novice elementary and intermediate levels into wins and high placings. In 2000 he came fifth in the final of the Federal Championship. Then in 2001, he even became federal champion six-year old showjumper, and in 2002 he easily managed the jump into the advanced class. Conterno Grande is currently one of Germany’s best up-and-coming talents in the international showjumping sport. The talented stallion is now under the seat of Philipp Weishaupt. They began their career together with a win in the Team ratings from the Riders Tour 2004, in Team-S*** in Bremen and following placings in Helsinki, Oslo, Milan and Paris-Bercy. . Conterno Grande’s wonderful depth of pedigree will ensure that he will become one of the great stars of the future. Several foals from his first crops were awarded premiums. The eldest of his progeny have been successful in basic level tests and conformation tests, and have straightaway secured their sire place ten in the national FN breeding value ratings of sires of showjumpers. At the 2005 approval in München-Riem, two Conterno Grande sons were approved. stallion Holstein, Consens (private stallion Holstein), Cordani, Exkurs, Fanfar, Frundsberg, Leon (all Holstein Association), Coleo, Fridericus Rex, Quick Dancer I and II (all private stallions Baden-Württemberg), Laredo (private stallion Belgium), Lehnsherr GL (private stallion Rhineland) and Puma (private stallion Rhineland-Palatinate-Saar).
