Donnerschwee

Donnerschwee is the most beautifully bred stallion for performance of the modern type. He was discovered in 1992 at the Elite sale at Vechta, Germany and was purchased for £75,000

Breeding

Donnerschwee is by the outstanding stallion Donnerhall, who combined a sports career at international Grand Prix level with a remarkable breeding performance which is echoed in his breeding index of 160 for dressage, 132 for showjumping and 146 overall. He is the sire of such top class horses as Don Primero, Grading and Federal Champion in Germany and Don Schufro, who achieved an index of 150 for dressage when performance tested and finished as Champion as well as over 60 other graded sons and many top international dressage geldings and mares. Donnerschwee’s dam Weltwunder was National Champion in 1986 at Aix la Chapel. Her sire Freiherr was a true dual-purpose stallion, producing 8 graded stallions including the fabulous Feiner Stern (now in the USA), the international dressage horse Flashdancer and the international showjumpers Flying Scot, BB Freiherr and Fiorucci 006. Her grandsire is the great Furioso II who produced over 200 state premium mares and at least 70 approved stallions worldwide. His full brother is the French stallion Mexico, the sire of the great Le Mexico, who in turn is the paternal grandsire of Ferro.

Performance

After scoring 121.66 for rideability in his performance test, he has gone on to achieve great success both in competition, winning Championships at such events at the German Riding Horse Championships at Warendorf, and siring top class sport horses. His total winnings to date are well over £200,000. In 2005 he will be based in the U.S.A to further their breeding programmes.

Progeny

Donnerschwee is the sire of the young approved stallion D.Day and also of the young stallion Gift Rubin, who was approved in 2000 and then sold for £127,000. He is also a very successful sire of daughters as Grace Kelly was Reserve Champion at the Elite Show 2000 at Rastede and then sold for £70,000 to the USA, Geisha, was Reserve Champion at the Elite Show1999 at Rastede and then sold to the USA, while Doubleple, Fariola and Weissera have all gained Elite Mare Premiums. Weissera also won several national and regional championships.
