Don Schufro

Don Schufro is one of the best young stallions in the world today. He is the most beautifully bred stallion of the modern type, being from the very successful cross of Donnerhall and Pik Bube, for performance. He possesses the true uphill conformation required for top level dressage competitions, along with tremendous power, allowing him to perform his movements with such ease and grace.

Breeding

Don Schufro is by the outstanding stallion Donnerhall, who combined a sports career at international Grand Prix level with a remarkable breeding performance. He is the sire of 62 graded sons including Don Primero, Grading and Federal Champion in Germany and the sire of top dressage horses. Don Gregory, sire of the very promising young dressage stallion Don Davidoff, bought for £250,000 in Germany, and Dream of Glory, to name but a few. Donnerhall‘s progeny have so far won over £212,000 and his breeding index for dressage is a record-breaking 165 because of the consistently high level of performance of his stock. He himself is by the great International Grand Prix dressage stallion Donnerwetter, behind so many of our top dressage competition horses of today. His dam Fiesta who is also the dam of Fantastica full sister to Don Schufro and dam of the young dressage stallion Sunny Boy, is by the great Pik Bube, source of the correct dressage movements so sort after today. He is the sire of many top dressage horses including 30 graded stallions of which the international competitors Pikant, Plaisir d'Amour and Pik Primaire are some of the most successful. Fabia’s dam sire, the Trakehner Unkenruf is best known as the sire of Carl Hester’s international mount Rubeliet von Unkenruf and was also a very important name in the development of warmblood breeding in Australia when he was exported there at the end of his stud career. He is also a ¾ brother to the international dressage stallion Don Primero and the international dressage mare High Noon as well as having the internationally popular sire Donnerschlag as a close relative too.

Performance

In his performance testing he achieved an index of 150 for dressage and was reserve champion overall with a mark of 133.36. Don Schufro in 2006 won the Grand Prix in Bremen and the World Cup qualifier at Vilhelmsborg. In 2005 he won the Grand Prix Special in Wiesbaden the World Cup qualifier in Vilhelmsborg, had several placings at the shows in Neumünster, Bremen, Lingen, CHIO in Aachen and at the German Marsters in Stuttgart.

Progeny

Don Schufro has from his first crop of foals in Germany a selected son in the Oldenburg studbook. In Denmark the 1999 Foal of the Year was by Don Schufro. In 2002 at the 2002 Spring Elite auction in Vechta, the highest selling horse Der Euro (300,000 €) was by Don Schufro. Der Euro is also the winner at the German Federal Championships for Four year old Riding horse mares and geldings in 2002 . Don Schufro is also the sire of the promising young graded stallion Diamond Hit who was second at the German Federal Championships for five and six year old dressage horses , and Vice World Champion. At the 31st Oldenburg elite auction, his son, 'Der Dollar' was the most expensive foal sold fetching 35,000 euros. Don Schufro has thirteen approved sons. Don Schufro is for the 7th consecutive time topping the German breeding ranking with a dressage index of 181 which proves him to be a worthy successor to his sire Donnerhall as the world’s leading progenitor of dressage horses. His offspring excels with very high ridability and extremely good gaits of which the canter is often world class. His son Diamond Hit has won Grand Prix with Emma Hindle. Many of Don Schufro’s progeny like Dexter/Holga Finken, Donna Asana/Lone Jørgensen, Donatella/Betina Laisbo and Græsmarkens Don Pedro/Anemette Holm Petersen are successful at “small tour” level.
