Breeding

Romanov is the full brother of the approved stallions Rubin Royal (main premium winner Oldenburg 2001; advanced dressage) Rumicello and Rubino. The sire of this quartet of stallions, Rohdiamant, who won his approval and was main premium winner himself in Oldenburg, was right at the forefront at the Federal Championship twice, and later had successes up to Grand Prix. The damsire Grundstein II presented successful, tough, long-lived competition sports horses at the highest level, in both dressage and showjumping, at the very highest level, including among others, German Dance/Hirokazu Higashira, Garanzo/ Markus Renzel, Giorgio/Gerhard Bagdahn and many more. Akzent II in the third generation also guarantees the rideability component. The Seifert Rudilore mareline has developed to a constant, reliable purveyor of stallions over recent years. This line brought forth among others, the half brothers Conterno Grande (1997 approval vice-champion; runner-up of 2001 Federal Championship; international successes under Marco Kutscher), Couleur Rubin (I-i premium stallion 1998; federal vicechampion 2001; international successes with Ludger Beerbaum), as well as Couleur Rouge (I-h premium stallion 2004), Don Chico (private stallion Oldenburg) and the successful advanced class international champion Gio Granno. The foundation mare Rudilore II (alias Chica) was an international three-day eventing horse under Wolfgang Mengers.

Performance

Romanov was runner-up of the 2002 Oldenburg Stallion Days and completed his 30-day test in Vechta with the highest of scores in all sections of the index. He became the best four-year-old dressage stallion at the 2004 Danish approval in Herning and later came second in the Danish Riding Horse Championship in Vilhelmsborg. In 2005 he was dressage champion for 5 year olds in Denmark. In 2006 Romanov won the silver medal at the Danish National Championships. After having dominated the young horse championships at the age of 4, 5 and 6 Romanov made his “small tour” debut in 2007 at the international show in Lingen where he came second in St. Georges and fourth in Intermediaire I. His debut was followed up by winning the Intermediaire I at the World Cup qualifier in Odense.

Progeny

In 2007 the first crop by Romanov turned three and they clearly met high expectations. His son Skovens Rafael became premium stallion at the Danish licensing and sold at auction as price highlight for the Danish record price of 1.2 mio dkk. Two daughters of Romanov were awarded medals at the elite mare show and the young Romera K became 2 year old champion mare. Two sons of the first German crop were approved at the Oldenburg licensing in Vechta in 2007 and nothing less that 9 sons are selected for the Danish licensing in Herning!
