Ustinov

Ustinov was the uncontested champion showjumping stallion of the 2004 KWPN stallion selection.

Breeding

His sire was the showjumping horse producer Libero H, who was a legend already in his lifeitme. Under Jos Lansink this son of Landgraf I won a series of World Cup competitions and Grand Prix, highlight being his fantastic victory of the ‘s-Hertogenbosch World Cup finals in 1994. His fighting spirit in combination with his jumping skill and incredible reflexes made the stallion amost invincible that season. In his first two breeding seasons Libero H only produced 41 registered offspring, but five of these, no less, are now performing at international level in the showjumping sport. It is remarkable that many of his internationally successful products also carry the blood of the preferent-awarded Nimmerdor. Liberty, Coonawarra, Ikoon and Iowa are good examples. This fact makes Ustinov’s pedigree even more interesting, for he is also out of a Nimmerdor daughter. Ustinov’s dam Haifa had already produced the KWPN licensed stallion Nijinksi. This mares line also produced the KWPN licensed Glendale (by Nimmerdor), and the international showjumping horse Vasco da Gama who was one of the competitors at the 2003 European Championships.

Performance

Ustinov was the uncontested champion showjumping stallion of the 2004 KWPN stallion selection. His beautifully long-lined model, his superb canter and last but not least his remarkable jumping manners made him stand out among his contemporaries. And also in the performance test Ustinov showed that his body has contents, with not a single mark below 8.5 for the showjumping components and an 8.5 for the galop. Ustinov’s great exterior and jumping quality are deeply anchored in his pedigree. This was shown at the 2007 KWPN Stallion Competition were he made a great impression. In 2007 Ustinov was successfully competed in international young horse competitions.

Progeny

Ustinov left a great impression after presenting his first offspring in 2006. The report speaks of a superb collection very appealing foals that display great movements. The light-footed and balanced canter was unprecedented. Ustinov does not breed Chestnut
