Breeding
Blessed with a model character and great light-footedness, his jumping manner is ideal and to top it off he has huge scope. The similarities are undeniable – he is a full brother to Couleur Rubin. His sire Cordalmé Z, ridden by Gilbert Böckmann, achieved International success in jumping. He also achieved recognition from the early years as an ideal sire for jumping horses. In 2000, two offspring of Cordalmé Z participated in the Olympic Games in Sydney. His sire was the great sire of champions Cor de la Bryeré. Cor de la Bryeré is one of the most important stallions in modern showjumping. His progeny have won over £1.5 million in prize money in Germany alone. His International showjumping progeny include San Patrigiano Corrode, Bockmans Cordalme Z, VDL Corland, Cera 001, Bollvorm’s Chablis and Global Concorde. He is also the sire of the international dressage horses Cabaret, Caprice, Castello and the world famous Corlandus. Cor de la Bryere was ranked 8th by the World Breeding Federation for Sports Horses in the list of sires of international showjumpers in 1995/96, and he has many graded stallion sons around the world. Contender also has the famous Zangersheide-based stallion Ramiro as his maternal grandsire and is therefore related to the outstanding performers Ratina Z, Royal Z I and Royal Z II.Couleur Rouge’s dam, El. Grannuschka, is the full sister to the international showjumper, Gio-Granno, ridden by Franke Sloothak. He is notable for his successes on the World Cup circuit and Grand Prix and is 8th in the WBFSH rankings for showjumping 2001. She is also the dam of the year older graded showjumper, Conterno Grande, by Contender. Her sire one of the most successful sire of showjumpers in the world, Grannus. He was ranked 1st in the WBFSH list of showjumping sires in 1995/6 and 4th in the whole period 1991/2000. His progeny have won over £1.5 million and include the International showjumpers Grannusch and Top Gun, as well as 79 graded sons stallions giving him an outstanding breeding index of 164.
Couleur Rouge’s grand-dam, El Rumina, is by Ramino, who is by the outstanding sire Ramiro who is the sire of over a 100 graded sons. His offspring feature such well known names as Ratina Z, winner of team gold and individual silver at the Barcelona Olympics and team gold at the Atlanta Olympics, a breeding index of 160 and 1st in the WBFSH rankings in the period 1990/1999. She in-turn is out of the wonderful broodmare Voila, who has to her credit such graded sons as the foundation sire Lord, who is 12th - 1991/2000 and 19th 1999/2000 in the WBFSH world showjumping rankings.
Performance
As a four year old Couleur Rouge was awarded the title “Oldenburg County Champion” of the show jumping division. He further was granted “premium” status at his licensing and came top of the list of jumping stallions.
Progeny
Coleur Rouge’s first foals have inherited his graceful movements and stunning looks.
